Exciting Updates

Eva and Elijah had their parents take them to the pediatrition this morning. Hey, if there was any concern ever about having enough milk to feed the twins - no more :) Eva weighs 7lb. 14 oz! (birth weight 6lb. 4 oz.) Oh yes and her name is pronouced Ee-vah Katelyn sorry about the slow answer. Elijah weighs 8lb. 6 oz.!! (birth weight 6 lb. 7oz.) Elijah is pronouced with a hard J - it's hard but you can do it :)

I have other fun things to say too - but first we must have a snack - or I should say the nursing mama needs a snack and I'll probably have one with her.

OK the big news for me is that my husband got to come out for a few days and meet the kids and have a reunion with me. Here we are with Eva and Elijah. I've posted some random pictures - not much free time for words - but then aren't pictures worth a thousand each :) Things are going well overall. Aimee and I are working on applying some of the ideas in the "Baby Whisperer" especailly reading the babies and working on bedding them at the first sign of them being tired - yawn. Man, you really have to pick and choose advise from the books - glean some here some there. Night all.

Eva found her finger and Elijah found his thumb the same day. Of course this was a random finding.

Elijah likes to relax with his hands up - or hands tucked under his head. Sarah used to sleep like this too - maybe she still does.

Activity time after feeding. Love to get those feet out and experience the world. Webber the duck looks on. Eva likes to look at toys and sometimes touches them and they move and she tracks their movement. They both seem to find each other interesting - of course.

Sunday Activities

On Father's Day we went for a short outing to Mirror Lake for ice cream. Packed the kids into the car - loaded me in the very back climbing through car seats - funny. Then we loaded the kids into a stoller, Lance bought ice cream all around, we walked down to the lake where Eva insisted she needed to be fed too. Then we walked back to the cars and reversed the process.

Camrose is very pretty. Tonight a rain storm came up with wind, thunder and drama, sheets of rain. I went out on the porch to take it all in. The rain smelled so sweet and then we had a stunning sunset. We watched the hockey game tonight - I made tacos. The tacos were better than the game - very disappointing for some. I was sure Edmonton would win.

Some did not - well they get their ice cream later. This was the first time out in the stoller and we only went a cautious little ways. I've got to change the lapbelts to be smaller and put a connecting velcro below the chins. I can do it - maybe tomorrow.

Heading home. It's good to get out - this being the first big family outing - but it wears Mommy out. Still it was great to be out in the sunshine. The Eva and Elijah attract a lot of attention.

After bath. One of Lance's jobs is to bath the babies. Tonight he gave both of them baths. At first Elijah was yelling - he didn't like it at all - but then Lance talked to him - telling him it was all good and what he was doing. Immediately Elijah quieted - like if Dad says it's good, I'm OK, I'm safe. It was a beautiful interaction and brought tears to my eyes. Sorry, no picture of dad - he was facing the sink - trust me - it was cute - shampoo bubbles and all.

Super Wiggler. I was showing Aimee some of my photos today and she said I HAD to post this one of her Super WIggler! So there you go - he's action man for sure. Eva often watches her brother - then she loves looking. Both babies were much more awake today which is fun. AND last night was a dream night - one four hour stretch and no tummy aches. What a gift.

An Outing and Company

Today we had an outing. After a rough night for the parents, Lance was having a morning nap - catch it while you can - and Aimee and I took the children to a well baby drop in clinic where you can ask a nurse any questions, have the babies weighed and meet other moms and kids. Two loaded carseats are heavy for a grandma :) but boy did I feel special loading them into the car and carrying them in for Aimee. We were only at the clinic for a few minutes and then stopped on the way home for Booster Juice - one for dad too. Aimee caught a couple of good naps in the day. I made curried hamburger on rice for supper (not too spicy) and also a meatloaf. I'm trying to cook ahead so I froze slices of the meatloaf and several meals of the curry dish. There is no shortage of appreciation around here that's for sure. I can hardly wait til Lando can come out.

Both babies got weighed. Eva weighs 6 lb. 13. Elijah weighs 7 lb. 1 1/2. Well, he weighed 7 lb. 2 before he peed a half ounce on the scale and Aimee's jeans.

After supper, some of Aimee and Lance's friends came over with their little Josiah. They were delighted to meet the kids and there were lots of stories and laughs - not to mention great snacks. Here Claire meets Eva.

If You Lived With Newborn Twins...

Woah...these dear little people are so precious, and cute, and fun. I can't get enough of staring at them. This evening for a bit, both Eva and Elijah were very wakeful and kept looking and looking with their dark eyes. They are attentive to their parent's voices.

If you lived with newborn twins for a bit I would say you would remember to pray for their parents more often. It is really tricky to get sleep! Aimee tries to feed them close together - sometimes at the same time. Often Elijah wants a second turn if he went first. Then there's the burping which sometimes is slow - but is still important to prevent tummy aches. Elijah has had some fussy nights - and his tummy is somtimes round and hard - if I put my ear to it I can hear gas bubbles. Tonight he went to bed after good burps and with a soft relaxed tummy.

What do I do? Change diapers, burp babies, deliver babies, try to nap myself so I remain useful, make supper, tidy up, offer verbal encouragement, weed a little. Wow. So far, I don't get up in the night - but the parents are sure busy.

Better get some sleep.

Just a note to say one quick plane flight and I'm here in Camrose. It's absolutely wonderful meeting my two new grandchildren. It's great seeing Aimee and Lance again and the house is great too. It's so much to take in all at once. I did a lot of cuddling and taking in of the little ones - even changed some diapers. Here is a picture of Linda, Lance's mom, and me. I have Eva and Linda is holding a sleepy Elijah. Oh Joy.

Eva and Elijah both wide awake at 10 pm. The tired parents are hoping the kids sleep better tonight. The babes have night and day a bit backwards.

See Hummingbird!

OK you eager readers. Aimee will be in the hospital for sure for a couple more days. Here is her face. Lance is at the hospital nearly all the time - he is her hands and feet and is reportedly an excellent support - dad and husband. I will be flying out on Wednesday to do what I do best - cook and clean - HA - but I will be their first live in help.

Already Shopping - And Waiting

Well, now that I know who they are - I had to get shopping and get a little something for each of the babes - chosen just for them.

I talked to Aimee briefly and heard baby 'B' s young little voice crying. Ah so sweet. Aimee says - wait for Hummingbird. So there you have it - the mom definitely wants to tell her own news and so she shall.

Cherished words from that little talk - "I did it Mom!"

I can hardly wait to see pictures - so I'm checking every few minutes all day :)

They're Here!

Lance phoned early this morning to say we have two new healthy grandchildren and Aimee is doing great too. He is so proud of her and delighted with his little babies.

Aimee had asked me to post that she was in labor. Lance thought she'd like to post the announcement of their births herself - so you might get a phone call - or you might stay in suspense for a little longer! I'll wait for further instruction about posting any more details here.

I'm a little too excitted to go right back to sleep - so I think I'll stitch a bit on one of the babe's quilts.

NEWS BREAK

Aimee's at the hospital in labor.

We got a call at 1:20 am from Lance that they were at the hospital. She had hints at home this morning that this might be the day and it is! Both Lance and Aimee sound very excited and happy. Aimee is hooked to an IV - normal for all multiples deliveries, she's dialted a little bit, and walking around to stimulate more action. Her doctor is very happy and says this is an excellent day to labor.

Prayers are appreciated while we all wait for the big announcement.

I am pretty excited!!!!

Sunday after church, Steve and Carolyn came over and we had Chinese food - fortune cookies and all. We had such a great time visiting. The Schulz baby is due in 10 days - or 11? VERY soon - VERY exciting.

After lunch we played outburst and discovered there are a lot of topics we don't know much about. Carolyn would ask us if we knew about a certain catagory - if not - she'd pick another card. Ah - it's all about the fun. Good times.

I gave Steve and Carolyn their baby quilt after the game. They are so appreciative and declare the quilt cozy - it's all flannell.

The happy parents take home their baby's quilt to put it in the cradle while waiting for baby's arrival. God bless you guys while this exciting time of waiting zooms by.
